Piazza del Popolo — Original Watercolor

I painted Piazza del Popolo after a 2018 trip to Rome with my closest friends from high school. We were wandering through the city and happened to come upon the piazza by accident. The scale of the space—and the two matching churches anchoring it—stopped me in my tracks. That moment of unexpectedly stepping into such an enormous, symmetrical square became the inspiration for this piece.

This painting is also a study of Joseph Zbukvic’s approach to atmosphere and composition, completed after my 2018 trip to Rome. It will be shipped in a protective tube, and a set of instructions is included on how to safely unroll and flatten the artwork once it arrives.
